JOPO (21.10.56) lernte mit 13 Jahren als erstes Instrument die
Bassguitarre (bei W. Lehmann) und spielte in Blues und Jazzformationen. Mit 19
Jahren wechselte er auf das Altosaxophon, dass von da an sein Hauptinstrument
wurde (bei Ch. Baader, Swiss Jazz School A.Scherrer). Als Zweitinstrument
spielt er seit 1981 Bassklarinette (autodidaktisch). Seit 1975 spielt er
regelmässig mit eigenwilligen Formationen und Projekten, bei denen er als
Leader oder Mitspieler immer auch eigene Kompositionen einbrachte.
Sein kompositorisches Werk erstreckt
sich über Zeitgenössische
Musik zu Ethno / contemporary Jazz und enthält sowohl Vokal- wie auch
instrumentale Musik, musik-scenische
und multi-mediale Arbeiten, Theater-
oder Filmmusik, Klang-Konzepte/Installationen
und Performances.

Seit 1983 gibt er Instrumentalunterricht, Workshops und leitet das House-Orchestra
gemeinsam mit Roberto dos Santos an der Musikwerkstatt Basel, wo er als Genossenschafter
massgeblich an deren Aufbau und Betrieb mitbeteiligt ist. Er engagiert
sich in verschiedenen kulturpolitischen Bereichen, wie als Präsident vom XOPF-Verein
X.I.E.A.M.S. (Label XOPF-Records), Organisation und Partizipation der
int. XOPF-Festivals Basel, 1995-97 Präsident und Vorstandsmitglied
MKS (MusikerInnen Kooperative Schweiz), Delegierter der Einzelmitglieder
Swissperform.
Er hat verschiedene Preise gewonnen (
Kunstkredit Basel, Alexander-Clavel-Stiftung, schweizer Kompositionswettbewerb
von Syntharp 2010/2011).
Er hat zahlreiche Projekte veröffentlicht, wie CDs, DVDs, Noten.
1989 gründete er mit seiner Frau Ingeborg
Poffet (Accordeon, Stimme, Komposition)
die Formation „Duo fatale“.
Sie leiten alle gemeinsamen Projekte, bei denen sie ausschliesslich Eigenkompositionen
verwenden. Tournéen in USA, Europa, Asien und Afrika mit Teilnahme an Int.Festivals;
verschiedene int. Radio- und TV-Produktionen (Izmir, Bologna, SWF, DRS, Moskau,
Spanien,
Bandung, Jazz Swissmade, Bremerhaven).
Mit „Duo
fatale meets international guests“ wird
die Formation jeweils erweitert mit Avantgarde-, Ethno-, klassischen-und
Rock-MusikerInnnen.

JOPO (born
1956)
altosax, bassclarinet, voice, composition, began to play the bass-guitar in
various blues, jazz and rock bands. At the age of 19 he started to learn the
altosax,
which has become his main instrument (learning by Ch.
Baader, Swiss Jazz School A.Scherrer) and
later the
bassclarinet (since 1981), playing jazz on both of these instruments. Since 1975
he's been playing with extraordinary formations and projects, always as a leader
or at least with own compositions. He
has given concerts with David Moss, Mani Neumeier, Peter Warren, Doug Hammond,
John
King and others.

He
hast played as soloist at the Klangkörper Schweiz Expo2000 Hannover
Since 1983 he teaches saxophone, leads workshops and since 2000 he is leading the "House-Orchestra” together with Roberto dos Santos at the Musikwerkstatt Basel, where he is responsible for growing up and business as associate.
He
is busy in different cultural-political

With his wife Ingeborg
Poffet
(accordion, voice, composition) he has founded the group "Duo fatale"
in 1989. In their exciting formation they have achieved a symbiosis of composition,
interpretation and improvisation. Based in Basel, Switzerland, they both
compose
the music for all their groups
and for command works such as theatre-or filmmusic or multi-media
performances.
They have frequently worked together with local musicians on
their tours across the world (Turkey, Russia, The Baltics, New York, Indonesia,
India,
Germany, Sudan, Egypt, Maroc, Mongolia). Tours in USA,
Europe, Asia and Africa with participations at int.
festivals. With Duo fatale meets international guests the
formation meets local musicians from the Avantgarde, Ethno, Classic or Rock
all over the world.
They did many int. radio- and tv-productions (Izmir-Turkey, Bologna-Italy, SWF-Germany, DRS-Switzerland, Moscow-Russia, Sevilla-Spane, Bandung-Indonesia, Jazz Swissmade, Bremerhaven, Odessa-Ukraine and others).

bass (chez W. Lehmann) et il a joué dans des formations de jazz et de blues.
Avec 19 ans il a changé sur l’altosaxophone, düs ce moment la son intrument

vision“ (depuis
´89) avec Duo fatale plus le painteur de l’Art Heinz Schäublin (Förderpreis
Alexander Clavel Stiftung Riehen - Jardin lumière 1992; 2.Preis Kunstkredit
Basel NachtMachtPlatz 1990) est une formation multi-media-avec live-performances
„fatale vision“ chez les int. Festivals de Smolensk (Russe, Pärnu
(Estland), Stuttgart, Singapur et expositions aux Berowergut Riehen (Casa
obscura - musica magica 1994), aux Ausstellungsraum Klingenthal (Sojourner´s
Gallery 1998) et Alte Kaserne chez les Musikfestwochen Winterthur (Sojourner´s
Gallery 2000).
Avec la formation „JAISH“ JOPOet Ingeborg Poffet jouent depuis
1991 regulièrement avec des different musiciens indiennes (sur place) comme
Milind Sheorey bansouri, et toujours Prakash Shejwal pakhavaj (les deux de
Bombay). Concerts en Inde, Suisse et Allemagne.
Depuis 1999 „Duo fatale meets
percussion“
avec Barni Palm, qui est revnues en Suisse après 18 ans de résidence en Bali/Indonesie.
Il est eu percussioniste de l’ancien groupe „Brainticket“.

Kunsthalle (Basel).
